Cath & Mark Higham We are Mark and Cath Higham and we became involved in Sweets for Life in December 2007.

We have been married for 19 years and have four children. Prior to meeting, Mark owned a car MOT centre and Cath was PA to the personnel Director at Scottish and Newcastle Breweries. After marrying, we successfully ran a Business Post Parcel Delivery franchise for over 12 years.

Sweets for Life has given us the ideal opportunity to build up an already thriving business but with the added thrill of helping Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity to raise the £50 million they need every year and to support Barnardo’s in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The business is now run from a new modern unit in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Meet the Team


Cumbria John	John worked at Sellafield for 22 years, as an electrical assistant, buyer and store man. John's hobbies include playing football up to 4 times a week, and he is involved in writing and recording music for various local theatre projects.

Darlington Mike Patterson	My area is County Durham plus Darlington and the surrounding area down to Scotch Corner. I have been part of the Sweets for Life Team since 2008. My wife Suzanne is a teaching assistant, we have a daughter, Emma who has a BA in Journalism from Teesside University and a Son, Oli who is a singer with regular gigs and who is doing well in national talent shows. I previously worked in commercial radio for 15 years and I now do a weekly Friday show on Radio Teesdale every Friday, check it out. I am very proud of helping to support Great Ormond Street Hospital and I would like to offer my continued thanks to my customers for their fantastic support over the years. My mobile is 07503591868

Hertfordshire Fergus and Georgina	Husband and wife Fergus and Georgina joined Sweets for Life in 2006, following careers in the voluntary sector. They have 2 very young children themselves and take great satisfaction in helping raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.

Nottinghamshire Tony & Ellen	Tony & Ellen both worked for a photographic / design company in Nottingham prior to joining Sweets for Life. "We joined the team in September 2004 after decidng that we both needed a career change. Fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity has been very satisfying. To know that we have played a part in helping to raise two million pounds for the charity fills us with pride." Suffold & Essex Adrian Lilley	Established in July 2005 the territory has grown very quickly into a satisfying and worthwhile business. Team members include:- Adrian Lilley, Paul and Lynne Sowman. We all have a background of working together in Petrol Stations and are enjoying the challenge of our new territory. It is really good to be greeted so warmly by customers when topping up their sweet boxes or seeking space for new ones.
